LA Walmart Workers on Strike

Posted by on Nov 6, 2013 in Walmart Watch Blog | 11 Comments

Today, in an exciting start to the holiday season, Walmart workers with the Organization United for Respect at Walmart (OUR Walmart) in Los Angeles went on strike. Workers promise more actions throughout the month and on Black Friday unless Walmart ends its retaliation against workers who speak out for change.

“I was nervous about going on strike, but I know the only way things will change is if we stand up,” said Juan Becerra, a Los Angeles Walmart worker.

Every advance in this half-century–Social Security, civil rights, Medicare, aid to education, one after another–came with the support and leadership of American Labor.—Jimmy Carter

I agree that all Walmart and Sam’s Club workers should be able to organize and/or unionize, but it would help if you could make sense while stating your views. A fired Walmart employee.

As a WalMart stockholder I do not support these workers they are taking away from my annual dividend. The minimum wage is $7.25 per hour and they should be paid that and no more. I would propose a .25 per hour wage increase after 5 years of service and no more. The Unions that want to organize WalMart do not understand that supply versus demand dictates wages not UNION thugs that have destroyed many great American industries. I will be urging Mr. Duke to FIRE ANY EMPLOYEE who strikes on Black Friday this will teach you.

I’m guessing you don’t believe in climate change…….are opposed to gay marriage…..and have a sick relationship with your children, assuming some woman would even have your children. You make me hope there is a hell……………….
