Walmart Associates Take Action

Posted on August 25, 2012 by jway

Leaders from the Walmart worker-led Organization United for Respect at Walmart (OUR Walmart) came together from across the country in Chicago earlier this week. They discussed how far their organization has come in just one year and where they would like to see it by the end of this year. A group of nearly 50 workers visited an area Walmart, where they presented their demands to management. After initially accepting the demands, the store management quickly made a call to home o?ffice, upon which security forced the group to leave. The action is just one of many examples of OUR Walmart members nationwide standing up to demand respect in the workplace. A video of the action can be viewed here.

If capitalism is fair, then unionism must be. If men have a right to capitalize their ideas and the resources of their country, then that implies the right of men to capitalize their labor.
