Stacy Mitchell, a senior researcher at the Institute for Local Self-Reliance and author of a Grist series about Walmart’s greenwashing, released a report this week detailing Walmart’s “green” initiatives as not much more than a public relations move. It examines all aspects of the company’s environmental impact.
The conclusion? “Walmart’s sustainability campaign has done more to improve the company’s image than to help the environment,” said Mitchell.
