Athens, Georgia is home to the University of Georgia and many famous musicians and bands like R.E.M., Drive-By Truckers and Widespread Panic. When a large development that would be anchored by a 94,000 square foot Walmart was announced, they decided to raise awareness about what Walmart does to small downtown communities like Athens.
Calling themselves the Downtown 13, this musician’s collective wrote a song called “After It’s Gone” which has been featured in Paste magazine and is in rotation on Sirius XM radio’s “Outlaw Country” station.
